How to Build Healthy Eye Habits at Home, Work, and School

Taking care of your vision doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few intentional habits, you can protect your eyes at every stage of life.

At Home

  • Read with good lighting to avoid strain.
  • Adjust TV and screen distance — at least 6–8 feet away.
  • Use a humidifier to combat dry indoor air.

At Work

  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule (explained in the next article).
  • Sit with proper posture and screen height.
  • Wear blue light glasses if exposed to screens all day.

At School

  • Encourage children to hold books at the Harmon Distance.
  • Limit screen time and encourage outdoor play.
  • Ensure regular vision screenings at school or home.

Eye health is part of whole-body health — and building these habits early can prevent future issues.
